Józef Struś (Lat. Iosephus Struthius) is the only physician of Polish origin from the Renaissance who is mentioned in every comprehensive textbook of the history of medicine. His work, published in 1555, revolutionized the knowledge of blood and blood flow. During his life, regarded as a legend on a European scale; in the years 1557-1559, he served as the mayor of Poznań.
