Each time before taking an office, a mayor makes a vow on a solemn session of the Poznan City Council (usually, in the Renaissance Hall of the Poznan City Hall):
"Assuming the office of the Mayor of Poznan, I solemnly vow to be faithful to the law, and I shall exercise the office entrusted to me only for the public good and prosperity of the residents of the city."
The vow may be taken with the additional sentence: "So help me God."
