Poznan is one of the economically strongest Polish cities. Poznan's economy is structurally diversified and well-developed in terms of its branches. It is dominated by the service sector which constitutes 71% of gross value added (GVA), and is a place of work for more than 75% of the people employed in Poznań. The economy is dominated by: trade, financial services, education and real property market. Good economic development in Poznan is confirmed by one of the highest value of gross domestic product (GDP) in Poland (after Warsaw and Cracow), amounting to PLN 40.2 billion, and PLN 72.7 thousand as per inhabitant (195.9% of the national average and 188.1% of the Wielkopolska Region average and the second after Warsaw). The share of GVA generated in Poznan consists 2.8% of GVA of Poland and 30.4% of GVA of the Wielkopolska Region.
