More electric buses on the streets of Poznan

- Soon in Poznan there will be a total of 58 electric buses. This shows the importance we attach to public transport and environmental protection. The green fleet means cleaner air in the city - says Jacek Jaśkowiak, Mayor of Poznan. - We will continue investing in public transport. We are currently applying for a subsidy for the purchase of 84 hydrogen powered buses - adds the Mayor.
MPK Poznan (Municipal Transport Company in Poznań) is systematically collecting the new vehicles and the first of them started running with passengers today. At the same time, in the depot in Kaczej street and at Górczyn, Garbary and Jana III Sobieskiego stations construction works related to the expansion of the infrastructure for their charging are being finished.
The new buses have been purchased to service lines 145, 149, 163, 175, 176, 179, 190 and 193. Their routes run through Poznan districts and - ultimately - they will mainly operate there. Therefore, the project also includes the construction of a new charging infrastructure. After the completion of works and acceptance inspections the new buses will be stationary at night charged through a plug-in connector in the depot in Kacza street, while during the day the energy level in the batteries will be supplemented by fast pantograph chargers. Other such chargers (in addition to those already in operation) are being built at Jana III Sobieskiego and Garbary train stations, as well as at Górczyn train station and at Kacza depot, where the vehicles will be recharged during service lines (e.g. lines 145 and 179).
The new buses are air-conditioned and monitored. The novelty is external cameras "watching" the right side of the bus and the pantograph. These are also the first line buses of MPK Poznań in pearl green and yellow colors. Standard passenger information system has been prepared, consisting of clear, modern directional signs and displays inside the bus, voice announcement system and public information monitors. The vehicles are low-floor, inside there is space for people in wheelchairs, a place to carry bicycles. The buses are equipped with USB chargers, as well as external lighting of door spaces.
The project "Electrification of selected bus lines in Poznań", under which we acquire 37 electric buses and charging infrastructure, received funding under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020, priority axis VI "Development of low-carbon collective transport in cities", measure 6.1 "Development of public collective transport in cities".
