Great successes of Solaris

The electric Solaris Urbino becomes the bus of the year 2016 in Spain.

The most innovative product in the portfolio of Solaris - new Urbino electric - received the prestigious title of the Bus of the Year 2016 in Spain. The award is granted by the industry's magazine "Viajeros".

Yesterday, the official granting of prizes was held in Madrid. The members of the competition Jury were the representatives of a few dozen of the most important municipal transport companies in Spain and experts in the automotive industry of the local market. After assessing the parameters of vehicles, such as reliability and being environmentally friendly, the jury decided to grant the title of the Bus of the Year 2016 in Spain to the new Solaris Urbino 12 electric.

The completely emission free, new generation, 12--metre Urbino 12 electric was presented for the first time in 2015 during the Busworld fair in Kortrijk, Belgium. Propelled by electric power, Solaris can be equipped with different types of batteries with diverse capacity. Moreover, the manufacturer offers several systems of charging the batteries: plug-in, pantograph and induction charging, depending on the infrastructure of the carrier. Thanks to its unique style, over-average performance, low costs of use and unlimited operational possibilities, this modern vehicle is an ideal response to the growing needs of dynamically developing agglomerations.

Large contracts in Israel, for 110 buses in total.

The Solaris company has been present on the market since 2012. So far, Solaris has provided nearly 200 buses, both urban and intercity ones, to the Israeli market, in cooperation with its local partner and distributor, UBSI. At the end of the year, Solaris got the next large orders for 110 vehicles in total.

The implementation of all three contracts, covering the delivery of 110 buses, will take place between March and May 2016.

Another big contract. Solaris won also the tender procedure for the delivery of 300 intercity buses InterUrbino to Italy.

Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. won the tender procedure for the delivery of 300 intercity buses InterUrbino to Cotral, a public transport company having its registered office in Rome. The framework agreement for nearly 110 million Euro assumes that the Polish manufacturer shall provide in total as much as 300 vehicles within the next four years. Even this year, Solaris shall execute the first part of the order, which will most likely apply to 122 buses. Apart from the sales, the transaction covers also 10-year servicing of vehicles.

The modern 12-metre InterUrbinos will operate on the regional lines of the administrative area of the Lazio region, located in the middle part of the ApenninePeninsula. The Solaris intercity buses will be powered by 240 kW DAF MX-11 engines, meeting a restrictive flue gas emission standard, Euro 6. The buses will be equipped with a modern monitoring system, consisting of 5 cameras, which will provide the observation of the interior, the second door, and the area behind the vehicle. Moreover, InterUrbinos will have a system of counting passengers, as well as a system for voice announcements.
