Prof. Alain Supiot, a lawyer specializing in employment law, is Professor Emeritus of the Collège de France, founder of the Center for Advanced Studies in Nantes (Institut d'Etudes Avancées de Nantes), correspondent member of the British Academy and an honorary doctorate of the University of Louvain. In the years 1998-2000 he chaired the National Council of France for the Development of Social Sciences and Humanities, since 2014 he is a member of the Strategic Council for Scientific Research. He is known around the world thanks to publications such as: "Critique of labor law", "Homo Iuridicus. A Sketch on the Anthropological Functioning of Law" and "The Spirit of Philadelphia. Social justice versus total market ".

Prof. A. Supiot obtained his bachelor's degree in law in 1970 and in sociology in 1972. He completed his doctorate in law in 1979 at the University of Bordeaux 1, France; then: the title of professor (1980), membership of the Scientific Institute of France (Institut Universitaire de France; 2001, chairman of the "Dogmatic foundations of law and social bonds"), dr. honoris causa (Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium). Alain Supiot was a professor at the University of Poitiers and Nantes in France (UMR-CNRS 6028).
