The Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology of the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań and the City of Poznań invite to an open lecture entitled "Zagreb School of Animation", which will be given by Prof. Nikica Gilić. The lecture will be held on November 18, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at the Collegium Maius, room 285 

Nikica Gilić is a full professor at the University of Zagreb, the Head of the Movie Studies Department at the Institute of the Comparative Literature, and the Head of the Doctoral Study of Literature, Performing Arts, Film and Culture. He gives lectures on the theory and history of the film at the Institute of Comparative Literature and at the Academy of Dramatic Arts. He is the editor-in-chief of the Hrvatski filmski ljetopis journal (Croatian Cinema Chronicle), the member of the editorial board of the Književna smotra journal (Literary Review) and the German scientific journal entitled Apparatus, and a member of the editorial board of the "Ubiq" journal. Moreover, he is a member of the Zagreb festival Animafest, the international animated film festival. He was also an artistic advisor on documentary films at the Croatian Audiovisual Center and a jury member at many film festivals (for example, Pula, ZagrebDox, Croatian Film Days in Zagreb, Balkanima in Belgrade and Mediteran film festival in Širokom Brijeg, BiH). He was also a member of the Supervisory Committee and later the Grand Council of the Independent Union of Science and Higher Education.

Nikica Gilić is the author of numerous publications on the theory and history of the Croatian film. Apart from dozens of articles, he has also published several film studies monographs. He is now the most important expert in the art of film and one of the most important critics of the Croatian film. He has been a guest of numerous Croatian and foreign symposiums, conferences, scientific meetings and dissemination events in the country and outside Croatia. He was invited, inter alia, to Berlin, Paris, London, Boston, Washington, Chicago, Timisoara, Vienna, Graz. He conducted open lectures in the country and abroad. He often gets involved in popularising the knowledge about the Croatian films. He is interested, inter alia, in film history, film genealogy, film narrative and film postmodernism.
