Prof. Clive Brown (Great Britain) - 7.12.2021

The J.I. Paderweski Academy of Music in Poznań and the City of Poznań invite to an open lecture by Prof. Clive Brown entitled "Violin Technique and Performing Practice in Classical and Romantic Music". The lecture will be held on December 7, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. in the Presidential Hall of the Music Academy at 87 Św. Marcin Street.

Prof. Clive Brown was a Fellow of the Department of Music at the Oxford University from 1980 to 1991, and is now the Emeritus Professor of Applied Music at the Leeds University and visiting professor at the University of Arts in Vienna. As a violinist, he focused his work on studies based on practice and historical performance. In the 90's of the XXth century, he was the concertmaster of the Cambridge Classical Orchestra. As the leader of the Ferdinand David Ensemble, he took part in many chamber music concerts with his Ph.D. students, then performed in a duet with pianists Neal Peres da Costa and Mikayel Balyan. In his play, he tries not only to apply to historical practices, but also to adapt the physical and technical aspects of the practice of 19th-century execution.
