Piasecki Academy of Physical Education in Poznań and the City of Poznań invite to an open lecture by Prof. Holger Preuss, entitled "Heritage, sustainable development and corporate social responsibility of major sporting events". Lecture will be held on 16 December 2022 at 4.00 pm in room 023/024 in the AWF Teaching Building.

Expert in the field of sports management

Holger Preuss is a professor of sports economics and sports sociology at the Jan Gutenberg University in Mainz and a lecturer at the University of Ottawa in Canada. He was the editor of the magazine "European Sport Management Quarterly", one of the most important scientific journals in the world in the field of sports management. Currently, he is the editor of the prestigious journal "Journal of Sport & Tourism". His area of research concerns the socio-economic impact of major sporting events such as the Olympic Games and the Football World Cup. He developed methods of measuring the heritage of great sporting events for tourist destinations. He carried out a research project assessing the impact of the COVID19 pandemic on the sports sector in Germany and was a member of the team that applied for the World Cup for Qatar (he estimated the costs of organizing this event). He is OECD consultant for Olympic Games in Paris 2024, member of the commission of the International Olympic Committee "Heritage and Sustainable Development" and one of the leading figures of The European Association for Sport Management (EASM).
