The Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology of the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań and the City of Poznań would like to invite you to an open lecture to be delivered by Prof. Llewelyn Morgan entitled "A wonderful power to unite nations": a Latin-language newspaper in late-nineteenth-century Europe.  The lecture will take place stationary on 22 March 2023 at 17:30 in Collegium Maius ul. A. Fredry 10; Poznań.

Prof. Llewelyn Morgan is an internationally recognised specialist in Latin poetry of the Augustan period (Ovid and Virgil). He is the author of an excellent and widely cited book on the metre of Latin poetry (Musa pedestris, Oxford University Press, 2011). He publishes regularly in the most prestigious journals in classical philology, such as Classical Quarterly and Transactions of the American Philological Association. He has also been invited to publish in multi-author monographs (e.g. Companion to Roman Love Elegy, Wiley, 2012). In addition to his research on Latin poetry, prof. Morgan also has an interest in ancient (and modern) Afghanistan, which resulted in his book The Buddhas of Bamiyan (2012).
