The central area is considered as the strict city centre limited in the west and north by railway tracks, in the east by the Warta River and in the south by the streets: Towarowa and Królowej Jadwigi. Constructing car parks inside the area is to meet the stipulation of releasing the city space to pedestrians and cyclists and eliminating parking on the pavements and roadways in the central area. Every launching of such a car park should be combined with the liquidation of the same number (approximately) of parking lots on the pavements or at the kerbstones in the neighbouring area
"Plac Bernardyński" parking lot
The planned underground parking lot under Plac Bernardyński is situated at the junction of two streets: Garbary and Długa. Currently, in Plac Bernardyński there is a marketplace managed by the Targowiska S.A. company. Plac Bernardyński is adjacent to the 350-year old St. Francis of Assisi Church and commercial and residential tenement houses, with the offices of two banks and barrister's chambers as well as a notary public's. There are also two hospitals in the vicinity - the Research Hospital on ul. Długa and the Wielkopolska Cancer Centre on ul. Garbary, as well as a secondary school, the Poznan City Hall and part of the departments of the Poviat Starosty in Poznan.
Plac Bernardyński is a characteristic point on the map of Poznan and thus constitutes the perfect place to begin a walk to the main tourist attraction of Poznan - the Old Market Square.
