The rigid division of professional roles by gender is definitely losing its importance in the modern labour market. This is proven by women operating in the IT industry, which is stereotypically perceived as a field of male specialisation. - Programming is an intellectual challenge, you have to come up with something and solve it - this type of thinking has no gender - says Urszula Szczepaniak, a software engineer at Sonalake. - Women often have a different approach to solving a problem than men, and I consider it very valuable.

More and more women confirm this thesis, boldly entering the world of modern technologies and the IT industry. At Capgemini, women account for 38% of all management positions. Almost 1/3 of specialists and managerial positions at GSK Tech are occupied by women. This is not the only way the company actively supports the development of women - GSK, the same as Capgemini, belongs to the group of technology partners of last year's Women In Tech Days. This unique event focuses on supporting women's careers in the technology industry. During the two-day workshop, participants could take part in specialist workshops, mentoring sessions, and various discussion panels.

A very important activity in creating a workspace open to all is to show new opportunities and perspectives. Choosing a dream career is often associated with concerns - especially among women who enter an industry dominated by men. Support in this matter is provided by the FlexDev Academy, which offers courses in programming and testing from scratch. Under the watchful eye of experienced specialists, future programmers can gain the necessary knowledge for further development. In addition, after completing the course, the academy offers the opportunity to take an internship in a partner company, Next Technology, where nearly half of the team are women!

Understanding the needs of women and helping to create a friendly working environment also requires the cooperation of the interested parties. This is understood by the community of Sii Polska, in which the Sii Power Women Community group was established. - I work with women who are starting their careers, as well as with those who have an established position in high managerial positions. And, despite the fact that at Sii all our employees, regardless of gender, are treated equally and have equal opportunities for development, I have been seeing for years how much we, girls need each other - says Joanna Kucharska, head of HR at Sii Polska. Another example of women's cooperation is the community created at Capgemini - Women@Capgemini, which among others, created the Capgemini IT Girls Revolution grant project aimed at organizing meetings, webinars, and competition for 64 participants from secondary schools on new technologies.

Women working in the IT industry are no longer an unusual phenomenon. With their commitment, determination, and ingenuity, they prove that they are as good or even better than their colleagues from work. After all, Martyna Zarzycka, a software engineer at Sonalake, reminds us: - The IT industry was dominated by men, but let's not forget that it was a woman who was the world's first programmer!
