P&R parking lots
Park&Ride parking lots are meant to channel as many cars as possible out of the city centre and encourage drivers to use public transport instead.
To enhance the attractiveness of this solution, it is assumed that a driver leaving their car at a P&R parking lot, will be able to travel (with a companion) on Poznan's public transport free of charge, provided they have a parking ticket (entitling them to claim back their vehicle at the parking lot) until returning to the P&R facility.
The modular parking system selected by the city allows cars to be moved with their engines turned off and therefore natural gas-fuelled vehicles can easily be parked there. Moreover, with the value of property connected to all utilities in cities soaring, modular parking systems have the advantage of being very compact in terms of the surface area they occupy. The number of modules used can be increased or reduced as necessary.
Other features that make this solution so advisable are its automation, reduced electricity consumption compared with regular underground and above-ground parking lots, as well as its security, since the parking lots do not allow for third-party access to parked vehicles.
