Swedish work culture in the heart of Poznań. Meet SKF FOC

SKF is often referred to as a family business, as there are often even several relatives representing different generations working in a single branch. This perfectly illustrates that SKF is appreciated in the market not only as a supplier but also as an employer.

From an idea to global success - a brief history of SKF

SKF's history dates back to 1907, when inventor Sven Wingquist founded the first company Aktiebolaget Svenska Kullagerfabriken (SKF) to manufacture bearings. For the rest of his life, the man worked on new designs and improvements to existing bearings. It is thanks to his persistent work that today SKF is the largest rolling bearing manufacturer in the world.

SKF also owns its proprietary research institutes and invests in the development of its structures within the Shared Service Financial Centres, where the full accounting of the companies is conducted. It was in Poznań that one of the 7 branches serving practically all SKF group entities was established in 2020.

SKF Financial Services Poznań - Swedish work culture in Poland

Not only does the organizational structure of Poznań FOC include financial departments, such as RTR (general ledger), OTC (accounts receivable department) and PTP (accounts payable department), but also specialists in Controlling, HR and Purchasing. Thanks to this structure, the centre operates comprehensively, and the employee training offered by the company and the opportunity to personally exchange knowledge with specialists from all over the world enable employees to improve their skills on many levels.

The Shared Service Financial Centre in Poznań operates according to the Swedish work culture, which means there is an informal atmosphere both in terms of dress code and contacts among colleagues. The company also operates a hybrid working system, which allows employees to be free to choose where to perform their duties. In addition, thanks to the office refurbishment that took place in early 2023, the office is very cosy and conducive to comfortable working.

Through regular meetings with superiors, employees have the opportunity to communicate their problems, needs or ideas on an ongoing basis. And the employer is happy to additionally reward those whose ideas have improved or accelerated the performance of their duties in a particular area.

However, SKF FOC is not only about the process work! The Poznań branch is also actively involved in charitable activities. Employees jointly participate in the "Noble Gift" charity action, distribute food to shelters and essential items to night shelters. The Poznań FOC also held a DKMS Bone Marrow Donor Day, as well as an auction during which employees could put up items or services for sale, and the money earned was earmarked for the adoption of a rescued fox Ferdinand, who lives in the Old Zoo in Poznań.

Business Excellence Certificate - a global distinction for SKF FOC

The best proof that SKF FOC in Poznań has one of the best working systems is the jointly earned Business Excellence certificate. It is the Poznań FOC, as the first non-manufacturing SKF units in the world, which has been awarded this unique distinction for optimising business operations striving for business excellence.

This is an amazing achievement, as every single employee in the company has worked for many months to implement the changes. It is thanks to the dedication of each individual that it was possible to improve the work in many areas and achieve the certification within less than three years since the establishment of SKF FOC.

The work culture at SKF Financial Centre in Poznań is certainly a great example of work-life balance, where each and every one of us can find our place.
