The City of Poznań and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań invite you to an open lecture by a specialist on the field of linguistics and multimodal communication, Professor Alan Cienki.

The lecture entitled: "Metaphor, gesture and thought", will take place on May 25, 2012 at 17:30 in Collegium Biologicum UAM on the Morasko Campus, ul. Umultowska 89.


Professor Alan Cienki, researcher at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, is a world-famous specialist in the field of research into language. The innovativeness of the analyses conducted by him consists of the biaspectual approach to language. Because the Professor focusses on both the written and the spoken language, with consideration of the accompanying broad spectrum of non-verbal conduct, such as a gesture.

Professor Cienki is also interested in research into dynamic multimodal communication, which is of crucial importance in modern humanistics. Professor Cienki is the author of numerous publications in international magazines and collective works. The aim of his research is above all the description of the cognitive processes which take place in mind.
