The University of Fine Arts in Poznań and the City of Poznań have an honour to invite to the open lecture by Prof. Richard Demarco. The lecture entitled "The Future of the European Culture Heritage. The Anglo-Polish Cultural Dialogue" will be held on 29 November 2016 (Tuesday), at 17:00, in the building B (Atrium) of the University of Fine Arts, Al. Marcinkowskiego 29.

Prof. Richard Demarco is a Scottish artist and promoter of the arts. He is the founder and director of The Richard Demarco Gallery and the co-founder of Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh. He is a prominent curator and initiator of the artistic and theatre life in the world. He has organised more than 1,500 art exhibitions and more than 900 theatre performances. Many times, he has been awarded and honoured with the highest university distinctions.

Prof. Richard Demarco is the founder and director of The Richard Demarco Gallery and the co-founder of Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh. Together with Sir Peter Hall, he is Vice President of the "The First Theatre of The 21st Century" in Kingston upon Thames. He has organised more than 1,500 art exhibitions and more than 900 theatre performances.

Many times, he has been awarded the title of doctor honoris causa, inter alia, at the Southampton Solent University (2011), Stirling University (2007), Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław (2006), or Atlanta College of Art. (1993). He is the winner of "Scottisch Art Council" (1975), the "Glenfiddich Artist of the Year" award (2011), "Edinburgh Prize" (2013) and others. He has also been awarded the honorary medal "Merit for Polish culture" (1967), silver medal of the Minister of Culture (2007), gold medal Gloria Artis (2012). He was nominated: to the "European Citizens' Prize 2013" (prize of the European Parliament), to the "Great Scot, Evening News" award, (2013), the "Great Scot for the Arts" award (2012).

He held many prestigious positions, in addition, he has taught at the reputable universities also as Visiting Professor.

In the years 1972-1992, he organized annual "educational trips" to Poland for lecturers, students and artists as well as managers of art. institutions, thus promoting Polish visual arts and theatre.
