The lectures will also feature a screening of the film "Refugeedom: Lonely but Not Alone" (2023) by Mieke Bal and Lena Verhoeff.

Mieke Bal is one of the most influential and recognisable theorists in the field of cultural and visual studies, an exhibition curator as well as an artist, video installation creator, professor emeritus at the University of Amsterdam and founder of the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis. She is the author of many groundbreaking books combining art history, literary studies and cultural studies, such as Quoting Caravaggio, Contemporary Art, Preposterous History  (1999), Travelling Concepts in the Humanities  (2002) and most recently Image-Thinking. Artmaking as Cultural Analysis  (2022).
